Environmental Justice and Governance |
| |
Sri Lankan do not enjoy equal environmental rights. The poor and the marginalised people in the society always victimized in the development process. |
| |
Access to Justice is very costly. However, compare to many other South Asian countries, Sri lanka has the best environmental and social protection regulations. But enforcement is very unsatisfactory.
Sri Lanka has a good National Environmental Act and Environmental Impact Assessment process. However its implementation is rather weak. Centre for Environmental Justice seek to address this issue. We believe fighting for equal environmental rights as our main responsibility. We address this issue through the courts as well as creating awareness.
